Lorelei Scarbro was born and raised in the Coal River Valley. She is the daughter and wife of coal miners. She has been active in the fight to save rural schools in West Virginia and is now fighting for a clean just energy future for West Virginia and the Nation
Ernie Thompson’s family goes back 9 generations in the Coal River Valley. He has worked in the mines as an inspector with the Mine Safety and Health administration. He has already been forced off of his family’s land once by the mine industry. The proposed surface mines now threaten his new home in Horse Creek.
Sherry Geisler fell in love with the West Virginia on vacation and decided to move to the Coal River Valley with her husband. Soon after they bought their new home in Rock Creek they discovered it was threatened by surface mines. Sherry is looking to the wind farm to save the mountains that drew her to West Virginia.
